Methods of applied mathematics

4 points * First semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: MAT1022 and one of MAT1011 or MAT1051. MAT2010 is recommended * Prohibitions: GAS2623, MAT2910, MAT2920

Ordinary differential equations: first and second order equations soluble by analytic techniques. Variation of parameters for linear non-homogeneous differential equations. Power series solutions. Vector differential calculus: grad, div, curl and the integral theorems of Gauss and Stokes. Flux calculations using multiple integrals. Functions of a complex variable.

Assessment

Examinations (1.5 hours): 85% * Tests and assignments during the semester: 15%
