6 points * Full-year subject * 4 hours per week * Gippsland/Distance * Prerequisites: GAS2062 or GAS2064, and students will be required to have completed the first and second levels of their course. Note: this is to be taken by all BAppSc students majoring in operations research and information management. Students undertaking other areas of major study in the BAppSc degree shall undertake subject GAS3062 (Applied research project) or GAS3619 (Mathematics project), as appropriate
This subject aims to develop students' ability to use the material studied during the course in a real decision problem situation. This is the final subject of the scientific thought and methods sequence, the aims of which are given in the subject outline for GAS1062. The three themes of GAS1062 and GAS2062, together with previous studies in the major area, are brought together in the form of an individual research project. Project topics will relate to the area of major study. Requirements to be met include reviewing relevant literature, seminar presentation and participation, and submission of a detailed final report. Where necessary for a particular project, attendance at short seminar programs may also be required

Seminar presentation: 20% * Interim project reports: 10% * Final project report: 70%
