This subject introduces students to the theory and application of basic physics principles relevant to the healthcare profession. An emphasis is placed on the safety aspects affecting healthcare workers and their clients. The subject is divided into a number of individually assessed topics: electricity (23%), mechanics (26%), radiation (20%), light (13%), sound (9%) and fluids (9%). The subject includes three hours of lectures per week, tutorials and four compulsory laboratory exercises.
