Earth sciences (introductory geology)

This subject is also listed as CIV3641 in the entry for the Department of Civil Engineering. The subject gives a general introduction to physical geology and geomorphology. The main emphasis is on the interpretation of geological maps, including subsurface structure. Included in this is practice in the recognition of common rocks and minerals, and the deduction of geological histories. Background in global geology is also introduced.

Examinations: 2 hours (35%) * Practical work/Fieldwork: 65%
