Earth resources and environmental geoscience
4 points * 4.5 hours per week * Second semester * Clayton
This subject is aimed at students who intend to major in earth science and/or hydrogeology. It will consider the significance of water as a natural resource and the geological, geophysical and chemical approach to understanding and managing its extraction as a renewable resource. Topics will include aquifers; interchange between fluid systems, including atmospheric, surface and subsurface waters; chemical dynamics of natural aqueous systems; interaction with rock systems; and the application of geophysical remote sensing techniques.
Assessment
Examinations (1 hour): 60% * Laboratory work/Fieldwork: 40%
