Database management systems

4 points * Two 1-hour lectures per week * Clayton * Prerequisites: As for CSC3010 * Corequisites: As for CSC3030 * Prohibitions: This subject cannot be combined with BUS2112, COT2132 and COT2901

This subject provides a comprehensive knowledge of the problems of complex database management systems and database organisation. Both theoretical and pragmatic approaches will be presented to the problems of logical data description, organisation and manipulation. Topics include data models, normalisation, query languages, fourth generation languages, integrity and security.
