Chemistry

6 points * 3 one-hour lectures and 1 three-hour laboratory or tutorial per week * Second semester * Clayton

This subject follows on from CHM1011. Topics include nuclear and radiochemistry; chemical bonding; modern spectroscopic and instrumental methods; coordination chemistry of the transition metals; the physical characteristics of solid materials; the chemistry of some main group elements. Organic chemistry topics will include aromatic chemistry, amino acids, peptides and carbohydrates.

Assessment

Examinations (2 x 2 hours): 70% * Laboratory work: 20% * Computer tests: 10%
