Environmental biology

6 points * Three 1-hour lectures and one 3-hour practical (or tutorial equivalent) per week * Second semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: BIO1011* Prohibitions: BIO1032

This subject is designed for students who wish to specialise in environmental science. Topics covered include the diversity of animals, plants and their habitats, environmental conditions and their effects on animals, plants and communities, interactions between plants and animals; and an introduction to ecology and environmental impacts. Part of the practical work may be offered as an optional field excursion. There is no prescribed textbook for the subject and required reading will be listed in the detailed notes distributed at the first lecture.

Assessment

Examination (3 hours): 75% * Written work (2500 words): 25%
