A full-time honours year providing students with a greater understanding of advanced topics in the structure-functional relationships of tissues and cells, together with deeper knowledge of a specific avenue of research selected from the range of research interests within the Department of Anatomy. These include reproductive biology in man and other mammals, the biology of cancer and premalignant states in man and animals, neurobiology, gastrointestinal biology, renal structure and function, connective tissue function, cell biology of epithelial tissues and molecular haematology. Other topics may be available by discussion with staff. ANT4000 is also designed to prepare selected students for graduate research work within the Department of Anatomy leading to MSc or PhD degrees. The program is divided into two non-equal parts. Coursework consisting of a series of lectures, and a research project supervised by a staff member requiring presentation of seminars and preparation of a written research report.
