ANT2022

Anatomy

8 points * Four 1-hour lectures and one 5-hour laboratory per week * Second semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: ANT2011

Second semester, anatomy and embryology. The teaching program in ANT2022 includes prosections and dissection of the thorax, abdomen and pelvis on human cadavers and provides a basic understanding of the organisation and functional anatomy of the viscera. Living and surface anatomy will be included. Topics also include concepts of gametogenesis, fertilisation and implantation. Principles of developmental biology and embryology of mammalian systems including the developmental anatomy of the thoracic, abdominal and pelvic viscera in the human and the causes of congenital abnormalities. Functional histology includes studies of the tissue and cell biology of the cardiovascular, respiratory, alimentary, lymphoid and genitourinary systems. Interpretation of radiology images will include contrast media, MRI and CT scans.

Examinations - Walk-through: 20% * Histology: 20% * Multiple choice (2 hours): 30% * Viva voce: 30%
