Introduction to research

2 hours per week * First semester * Peninsula

This subject is designed to introduce the student to research methodologies in primary health care nursing and explore practical and theoretical research issues. The subject will address issues of selection of a research issue and appropriate designs. The content will include an introduction to biostatistics, epidemiology and software packages utilised in quantitative health research; an introduction to interpretive and critical research methodologies in qualitative research; and writing a research proposal and grant submission.

Assessment

Assignment: 70% * Seminar presentation: 30%
