Professional and contemporary issues in psychiatric nursing

The subject will introduce students to international, national, and local level perspectives regarding the current, changing and future pathways for psychiatric nursing and mental health care. Areas to be covered include international, national and local issues in psychiatric nursing, contemporary models of mental health, contemporary and future roles and functions of mental health nurses, professional issues, the nurse as case manager. Students will be introduced to appropriate theoretical foundations for studying political, legal, ethical and administrative issues.
