Field work

Ms V Griffiths

4 days per week * First and second semester * Peninsula

Students will be employed in specialist areas of the major studies and will be exposed to various areas during the program. The fieldwork component is considered to be an integral part of the critical care nursing course. As such, the fieldwork component will provide the opportunity to apply the concepts covered in the curriculum, that is to make the necessary links from theory to practice. Fieldwork experience will provide for the development of the student in terms of knowledge, technical skills and values inherent to critical care nursing practice. Aspects of skill development are linked with theoretical concepts from major studies and the elective subjects.

Assessment

Clinical competency-based performance appraisal, within the critical care setting throughout first and second semester
