An introduction to the use of computers in nursing. As well as developing an appreciation of various aspects of computer technology, students will be introduced to ward-based nursing information systems currently in use in hospitals, develop a working knowledge of a personal computer and its operating system, and use a personal computer as a tool for word processing, database and statistical analysis. The subject is taught by lectures and computer laboratory work.

Assessment

Examination (1 hour): 50% * Research paper (1000 words): 50%
