Human bioscience III

5 points * 4 hours per week * First semester * Peninsula * Prerequisites: NSG1310, NSG1320

Organisation of the gastrointestinal tract. Digestion and absorption. Alterations in gastrointestinal function. Hepatobiliary functions and malfunctions. Cellular metabolism of different food classes. Blood glucose homeostasis. Body nutritional requirements and diet analysis. Male reproductive structure and function, and associated disorders. Female reproductive structure and function, and associated disorders. Meiosis, spermatogenesis, oogenesis. The subject is taught by lectures, demonstrations and laboratory work.

Assessment

Examination (2 hours): 70% * Laboratory assessment: 30%
