Global nursing issues IV

The subject introduces students to Australian legal institutions and the current law which relates to health professionals. Emphasis is placed on how the law affects the specialist activities of nurses, preparing students to engage in decision making with the requisite legal knowledge to meet their professional responsibilities. Attention is drawn to the legal obligations which exist between nurses, their patients, the patient's relatives and other members of the health care team. Case studies will be utilised to highlight the various legal issues which affect health professionals. The subject is taught by lectures, tutorials and case studies.

Assessment

Assignment: 60% * Examinations (45 minutes): 40%
