Carbohydrates, proteins and lipids. Chemical digestive processes in the alimentary system. Life molecules - DNA and RNA. Viruses. Structure and methods of transport across membranes. Nerve tissue and conduction. Concept of ions. Optics, lenses, vision lasers and their applications. Light ultrasound and radiation and their use in medical imaging. Radioactivity, decay and half-lives, and safety precautions. The subject is taught by lectures, tutorials, demonstrations and laboratory work.
