Public health policy and planning

1 hour 45 minutes per week over 14 weeks * Second semester

The subject examines the concepts and methods underlying public health planning, policy development and analysis. Theoretical contributions from a wide range of disciplines including epidemiology, demography, sociology, anthropology and economics and operational research will be examined. The status and consequences of different policies at the local, state and federal level will be examined. Case studies will illustrate the multidisciplinary nature of policy and planning.

Assessment

Essay: 2500 words * Students are expected to read two to three assigned articles per week and be prepared to discuss them
