This subject, based on the American Association for Medical Pharmacology teaching program, presents the core material essential for development of the general principles of pharmacology. Emphasis is on mechanisms of drug-receptor interactions and on pharmacokinetics. Where appropriate, prototype drugs in current use will be discussed to illustrate concepts and principles. The material will be reinforced in MED3042 (Basic and clinical pharmacology and toxicology II) and in other subjects in which specific drugs are discussed.
