This subject is primarily concerned with the rights resulting from intellectual activity in the industrial and scientific fields. The subject will involve a detailed study of the grant of patents for inventions pursuant to the Patents Act 1952 (Cth). This will include the concept of a patentable invention, patent application procedure and the maintenance and working of a patent. The nature of and protection given to discoveries and confidential information will also be covered.
