Not offered in 1995
One 2-hour seminar weekly over 13 weeks
This subject is intended to provide students who have studied, or are studying, intellectual property at the graduate level with a more detailed appreciation of the international dimensions of this area of law. In particular, the subject will focus on the two principal conventions in this area, the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works and the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property. The development and operation of these conventions will be examined in some detail, together with the question of their implementation at the domestic level. Other relevant international conventions will also be considered, including the GATT.
