Current problems in family law 700
Professor M Neave
One 2-hour seminar weekly over 13 weeks * First semester
This subject will examine a number of problems, both persistent and novel, which arise in family law, and explore solutions to those problems. Recent or proposed amendments to family law legislation will be studied and evaluated. Relevant case law and the actual application of the law will also be considered. Areas dealt with in this subject in previous years included constitutional problems; agreements dealing with matrimonial property, maintenance and custody; injunctions; recent legal developments in relation to children; enforcement of family orders; and matrimonial property regimes in Australia and overseas. Students taking part should have completed family law at undergraduate level in Australia or elsewhere.
