The subject examines the restrictive trade practices provisions of the Australian Trade Practices Act 1974. The issues selected for discussion will be those which would be raised by most forms of legislation in control of monopolies and restrictive trade practices. Topics to be discussed will include anti-competitive agreements, misuse of market power, mergers, resale price maintenance, exclusive dealing and price discrimination. Prior training in economics is not required although economic concepts will be introduced and discussed.
