Taxation of corporations and shareholders 700

One 2.5-hour seminar weekly over 10 weeks * Summer semester

This subject covers the taxation of corporate profits and shareholders in Australia. It deals, in particular, with the taxation of corporate distributions, including inter-group distributions. It examines the imputation system in detail and looks at the impact of the foreign tax credit system on the imputation system. The subject also looks at the capital gains aspects of company and shareholder taxation, including inter-corporate asset transfers, corporate re-organisations, incorporation roll-overs, winding up and liquidations and takeovers.

Assessment

Take-home examination: 40% * Research paper (6000 words): 60%
