15 points * Three 1-hour lectures per week * Clayton

The fundamental sources, divisions, personnel and machinery of the Malaysian legal system will be examined. The historical influences, present-day features of common law, Muslim law and customary law, the machinery of justice, the constitution and the personnel of justice will be discussed. Topical developments with the Malaysian legal system and special topics will vary depending upon the expertise of local or visiting staff members.

Assessment

Written reserach assignment (5000 words): 60% * Terminal examination (2 hours): 40%
