Computer-aided drafting: use of a package for 2D and 3D drafting. Customisation: facilities for customising a drafting package to productivity in various applications. Concepts of solid modelling: primitive solids. Boolean operations: union, difference, intersection; group operations. Mass and moment of inertia extraction. Rendering: surface description, light and view point definition, ray tracing. Animation: technical manual and training techniques, parts assembly sequencing using animation, movie making for VCR output.

Assessment

Examinations (2 hours): 35% * Practical work/Laboratory work: 65%
