Management principles 2

Product costing and evaluation: components of cost, variation with volume, break even analysis, production/marketing implications, pay back calculations, accounting rate of return, discounted cash flow. Time value for money, tax and depreciation implications. Buying models: what decision do buyers make? Who participates in those decisions? What are the major influences on these decisions? Buyer/goals and risks, different models. Commercial arrangements: negotiation process, letters of agreement, contracts and their features. Statutory requirements: safety, environment and occupational health, regulations, codes of practice, Australian standards. Ergonomics: workstation design and ergonomics, human physical and mental capacities, occupational health aspects, human communications in networked systems. Project management: setting objectives, identification of stakeholders, planning, progress control and measurements, commissioning, training and handover, reporting. Product evaluation: consideration and evaluation of specific proposals.

Assessment

Examinations (3 hours): 60% * Practical work: 40%
