Analytical methods 1

Pre-calculus: graph sketching using intercepts, symmetry and asymptotes. Limiting values. Differentiation: derivative of polynomials, trigonometric functions, exponential and natural log functions. Product, quotient and chain rules. Applications. Integration: integral of polynomials, trigonometric functions, exponential functions and functions giving natural log expressions. Definite integrals. Applications. Differential equations: solution of first-order differential equations by direct integration, separation of variables and the integrating factor method. Applications.

Assessment

Examinations (3 hours): 70% * Practical work: 30%
