Effective management of the finance function is needed to ensure that it, together with the other functions, is optomised. This subject is designed to provide students with an understanding of finance strategies and in particular the need to plan for and achieve minimum variation in funding requirements. It covers an overview of the finance functions: the relationships between manufacturing business strategies and finance; budget preparation and funds investments; structuring finance to meet the needs of a manufacturing organisation including seasonal and other variations which impact on demand for funds; investment appraisal and other financial methodologies; product and process costing; management accounting and information systems.
