Knowledge-based manufacturing management

Introduction: changing concepts of manufacturing management, manufacturing organisation as a system. Data information and knowledge - distinction, communication of knowledge, information theory, processing in manufacturing organisation. Techniques - data modelling, computer representation of knowledge: rule based, logic based and object-oriented paradigms for knowledge representation; domain knowledge representation for manufacturing decision-making. Applications to production management, production system design, manufacturing technology; implementation considerations.
