Advanced manufacturing processes and production systems

Recent trends in machining processes and applications of the following processes: electric discharge machining, ultra and sonic machining, chemical machining, electro-chemical machining, electro-chemical grinding, plasma-arc machining, laser beam machining, electron beam machining, ion beam machining, stereo lithography. Modern manufacturing processes for plastics, rubber, and ceramics. Cold and hot working including metal forming and forging. Powder metallurgy: compacting and sintering principles, welding and allied processes.

Assessment

Examinations (3 hours): 70% * Assignments: 30%
