Mechanical engineering design 2

4 points * 26 lecture hours, 26 design office/laboratory hours * Second semester * Caulfield * Prerequisites: MEE2312 or MEE2322

A selection of detailed design approaches chosen from the following lists. Design for tribology (wear and corrosion). Rolling element bearings. Boundary lubricated bearings, introduction to journal bearings and lubrication. Detailed design of spur gears. Desin of gaskets and other seals. Computer aids in design. Preliminary design decisions. Optimisation in design. Design for reliability. Design of dynamic systems. Detailed design of structures and lifting equipment in accordance with Australian standard codes.

Assessment

Examinations (3 hours): 60% * Assignments, test: 40%
