Non-metals. Material selection check lists, costing. Testing procedures development and quality control tests. Polymer additives. Effects of processing on properties for thermoplastics. Thermoplastic and FRP process selection. Composite design and development of new applications. Adhesion and adhesives, surface preparation, adhesive selection and joint design. Plastic welding. Polymer foams - manufacture and properties. Friction and abrasion of polymers.

Assessment

Written (1000-word report): 10% * Laboratory work/Test: 20% * Examinations (3 hours): 70%
