Elasto-plastic behaviour; Tresca and Von Mises criteria. Application of plasticity methods to beam bending, torsion of shafts, thick-walled cylinders. Analytical method for metal working. Brittle and ductile fracture; fracture toughness and fatigue crack propagation. Introduction to finite element method.
