Application of definite integrals to volumes, arc lengths, surface areas. Numerical integration: trapezium and Simpson's rules. Vector algebra and vector calculus. Partial differentiation and applications to small increments and errors, maxima and minima, least squares curve fitting. Matrices and determinants: matrix algebra, sets of simultaneous equations, linear transformations, eigenvalues and eigenvectors. Maclaurin series. Series: convergence, power series and applications. First-order differential equations by integrating factor and by separation of variables, applications. Second-order differential equations: solution of homogeneous and non-homogeneous linear equations with constant coefficients, applications.

Assessment

Examinations (3 hours): 70% * Tests: 20% * Assignments: 10%
