An engineering project is required for each final-level degree student. The primary function of the engineering project subject is to give the student personal responsibility for a realistic industrial problem under carefully controlled conditions; he/she will thus obtain valuable experience in applying his/her developing engineering skills and knowledge. It is expected that many of the project problems will derive directly from local industries, so that much of the project work should be of value to the Gippsland community.

Assessment

Assessment of the engineering project is based upon the supervisor's report on attitude and achievement, evaluation of an initial and final project seminar, the evaluation of a full technical report on the project, and the technical quality of the final engineering project.
