As part of the requirement of the Institution of Engineers, Australia, for all engineering degree programs, it is necessary for students to complete a total of twelve weeks of industrial experience. This experience is normally to be gained during the Christmas vacation periods between second and third years, and third and fourth years. A formal report on the experience is to be submitted on completion.
