Engineering computer techniques

Comparison of operating systems DOS and Unix. Detailed consideration of structured programming techniques following the principles introduced in `Elements of software engineering' of subject GEG1123. Study of `C' programming language including variables, expressions, assignments, data types, flow of control and logic, if, while, do, branching statements, functions, arrays, and strings; input, output and files in the Unix environment. Resources: distance education students to have access to appropriate computer hardware and software.
