Schools technology studies project

Departmental level-four coordinators

3-6 points * Clayton * Prerequisites: Level-3 core subjects

A total time commitment of roughly sixty hours (3 credit points) eighty hours (4 credit points), 100 hours (5 credit points), 120 hours (6 credit points) is expected. The subject will be offered in both semesters. It may be taken as a level-four engineering elective in any department at a points value appropriate to the department and with the permission of the head. The subject, Technology Studies, now forms an important part of the curriculum in both primary and secondary schools. In this elective, the engineering student works with a suitably matched school class and teacher in devising and supervising problem-solving type projects of a kind appropriate to engineering and technology. The elective is essentially school based. The purpose is to assist schools in offering and promoting appealing technology subjects, and to give engineering students valuable experience in innovative planning, communication and report writing.
