An introduction to assembly language programming with emphasis on the resources available in PC-based systems. Assembler and linker. Memory access, restrictions and management. Timers and ports. Interfacing via games, printer and serial ports. RS232 protocol and hardware, modems. Use of commercial application packages appropriate to the professional needs of civil engineers, covering word processing, spreadsheets, graphics presentation, database management and presentation managers.
