System equations for process: differential equations for continuous systems, matrices and state space equations, difference equations for discrete systems. Transform methods: Laplace transform for differential equations, z-transforms for difference equations. Transfer function representation: block diagrams, signal flow graphs. System behaviour: s-plane theory, poles and zeros, time and frequency response, state transition matrix.

Assessment

Examinations (3 hours): 70% * Laboratory work: 30%
