Computer control 1

Process concepts: basic process elements, plant, measurements, controller. Control loop topologies. Control hierarchies: direct digital control, supervisory control, distributed control configurations, batch sequencing, process interface, control safety. Modeling and identification: development of first and second-order models. Sampled data theory: z plane, stability, transforms, closed loop sampled systems. DDC algorithms and tuning, digital filters - deadbeat, Dahlin controllers. Selection of sampling interval. Multiloop control schemes, feedforward, cascade, interacting loops and decoupling. Supervisory control: energy management auditing.

Assessment

Examinations (3 hours): 60% * Laboratory work: 40%
