Power electronic converter topologies and modulation strategies. Voltage and current source, soft-switched and resonant-link converter systems. Modelling of DC and AC motors for variable speed operation. Simulation of converters and drive systems. Open loop, closed loop and torque-controlled DC and AC drive systems. High-power drive systems. Servo motor, reluctance and stepper motor drives.
