Small-signal amplifiers

E M Cherry

4 points * 26 lectures, 12 tutorials, 24 laboratory hours * First semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: ECS2360 (Electronics and control systems I) (at PI) * Corequisites: ECS3311 (Circuit theory II), ECS3331 (Control systems II)

Linear electronics. Small-signal amplifiers - CE, CB, CC configurations, JFET amplifiers; low and high frequency response - poles and zeros, time and frequency responses; multi-stage amplifiers - interstage coupling, interaction between stages; differential amplifiers - long-tailed pairs, common-mode and differential-mode behaviour, common-mode rejection; DC amplifiers - offset voltage and bias current, drift, drift generators at input, signal-to-drift ratio.

Assessment

Examinations (2 hours) * Laboratory work
