Control systems II

3 points * 26 lectures, 12 laboratory hours * First semester * Clayton * Prerequisites: ECS2360 (Electronics and control systems I) * Corequisites: ECS3311 (Circuit theory II)

System theory: modelling of dynamic systems; linearisation of state space equations; solution of linear state space equations; discrete linear systems; state space and transfer function relationships. Frequency response methods for controller design: Nyquist, Bode and the Nichols chart; sensitivity of closed loop systems; robustness of closed loop systems. Three-term controllers.

Assessment

Examinations (3 hours): 85% * Laboratory work: 15%
