Electromagnetic theory I

Vector fields for macroscopic electromagnetism. Electrostatics, dielectric and ferroelectric materials, capacitance, energy and forces in electrostatic systems. Conduction of electric current. Magnetostatics, magnetic and ferromagnetic materials, self-inductance, energy and forces in magnetostatic systems. Magnetic circuits; magnetically coupled circuits, mutual inductance; electromagnetic induction. Displacement current. Assembly of Maxwell's equations and constitutive relations.

Assessment

Examinations: 2 hours * Minor assignments or tests as announced during the course
