Digital logic systems

Boolean algebra, mixed logic, polarised mnemonics, design and analysis of combinational logic circuits, multi-input minimisation, Karnaugh maps, variable entered maps, use of MSI circuits in combinational logic design, fan-in and fan-out, propagation delay, wired logic and bus oriented structures, analysis and design of flip-flops, converting from one flip-flop to another, counters and shift registers, timing and clock skew, introduction to assembly language programming for the 8086.

Assessment

Examinations (2 hours): 80% * Practical work/Laboratory work: 20%
