Advanced management

Current and emerging management issues. Planning and decision-making considerations: levels and types of planning and decision making, corporate planning, problem solving. Productivity and operations management: concepts, assumptions, measurement, operations management, quality management. Leadership style and staffing: leadership, management process, communication, human resource management. Organising for stability and change: strategy and structure, organisation structures, technological and organisational change and development programs, conflict management. Managerial control issues and methods: process stages and assumptions, behavioural management principles, budgetary controls and considerations in management information systems, reporting requirements for project evaluation and attainment of performance objectives.

Assessment

Written (4000 words): 30% * Examinations (3 hours): 70%
