Geometric design of roads: principles, procedures, standards and their selection and application. Traffic noise and air pollution. Parking. Road furniture, signs and markings. Intersections: at-grade and grade separated. Traffic signals: theory and operation. Residential streets. Pedestrian and bicycle facilities. Local area traffic management. Transport planning: principles, processes and procedures. Land use planning: history, legislation, land uses, preservation, conservation. Environmental considerations, assessment, evaluation, effects statements.
