Reinforced concrete: materials, concrete and steel, strength, stress-strain relationship. Analysis: moment coefficients, linear elastic analysis, equivalent frame for slab systems, yield line theory, use of AS3600. Design: design of single and double reinforced sections, balanced stress concept. Ultimate strength design: failure modes of beams and columns, load factors, strength factors, shear, torsion, column heads, footings, detailing.

Assessment

Examinations (3 hours): 80% * Design assignment: 20%
